ORGANOLOGY
I have always had an affinity for collecting instruments and learning about their construction, sound production, history, and cultural use. I inherited a collection of instruments from Puerto Rico, which belonged to my Aunt who was a musician and journalist living in San Juan. Likewise, Peruvian instruments were passed on to me through my grandmother whose sister lived in Arequipa. Many instruments have been given to me as gifts by people who, aware of my fascination, would collect them on their travels. I have collected others through my own travels abroad and some have been purchased at music, vintage, and antique stores throughout the United States and Switzerland. These instruments are largely used for teaching purposes.
